Honorable Representatives!

The question before the House is whether it shall agree to the Bill to be read by the Clerk.

Votes can be entered into the Records of the House by the Yeas and Nays. The presence of a member not voting will also be put into the Records if declared (Present).

An amount of 96 hours without increment is reserved for the entering into the Record. Records will be closed on this motion in the discretion of the Chair, if a majority on the motion is reached or can not be reached.

Amendment VIII [Abolition of the Office of the Vice President of the United States]

(1) Mit Beginn der Amtsperiode des Präsidenten der Vereinigten Staaten, die auf das Inkrafttreten dieses Zusatzartikels folgt, ist das Amt des Vizepräsidenten der Vereinigten Staaten abgeschafft.
(2) In Abwesenheit des Präsidenten der Vereinigten Staaten führt der Präsident des Kongresses stellvertretend dessen Geschäfte, im Falle von dessen Abwesenheit oder Verhinderung oder der Vakanz dieses Amtes der Vizepräsident des Kongresses. Dabei soll der Präsident der Vereinigten Staaten automatisch als abwesend gelten, wenn er seinen Amtsgeschäften länger als sieben Tage ferngeblieben ist.
(3) Scheidet der Präsident der Vereinigten Staaten vorzeitig durch Rücktritt, Amtsenthebung, Tod oder aus sonstigen Gründen aus dem Amt aus, so soll der Kongress mit den Stimmen der Mehrheit der Mitglieder in beiden Häusern einen neuen Präsidenten für die verbleibende Amtsperiode wählen.
(4) Die Neuwahl eines Präsidenten der Vereinigten Staaten soll jedoch unterbleiben, wenn zwischen dem Amtsantritt des nachgewählten Präsidenten und dem Beginn einer neuen Amtsperoide ein Zeitraum von weniger als einem Kalendermonat läge. In diesem Falle soll der Präsident des Kongresses als Kommissarischer Präsident der Vereinigten Staaten vereidigt werden und sein Kongressmandat für die Zeit der kommissarischen Amtsführung ruhen. Es ist dem Kommissarischen Präsidenten dabei untersagt, sich während oder nach seiner Amtszeit nummerisch in die Reihe der Präsidenten einzuordnen.
