Diese Herleitung des Namens ist zwar interessant, tatsächlich verhält es sich aber ganz und gar unschweinisch:

Der Name Ortsname Rottenegg rührt von einer gleichnamigen, im 13. Jahrhundert erbauten Burg her und bedeutet zu Neuhochdeutsch schlicht "Rote Ecke."

"Rot", weil die Burg aus in der Gegend vorkommendem rötlichem Gestein erbaut wurde und "Ecke", weil sie über einer steil abfallenden Felswand thronte. Die Ruine von Burg Rottenegg kann man übrigens heute noch besichtigen. ;)
