Ich will von meiner Arbeit leben können. Und ich will gerne arbeiten gehen. Eine Arbeit, die mir keinen Spaß bringt, würde mich nie glücklich machen. Ganz egal, ob ich dafür das Gehalt eines Notars einstreichen könnte.

Welch weise Entscheidung! Vermutlich ist deine Ehefrau (noch) gleicher Meinung. Hauptsache, Papa Wells kann sich selbst verwirklichen, auch wenn die Mama Wells und Baby Wells arme Schlucker bleiben (müssen). Wie selbstlos.

Ach weißte - man kann auch ohne Geld glücklich sein. Vielleicht sogar glücklicher als manch reicher Mensch. Immerhin weiß ich bei meiner jetzigen Tätigkeit neben dem Studium, dass ich am Ende der Schicht etwas erreicht habe.

Ich kann das bei Wells nachvollziehen.
Ich würde gerne redaktionell arbeiten oder als Militärhistoriker, also wirklich das tun, woran ich spaß habe.
Bei der Vorstellung, mein restliches Leben einen Job zu machen, der mir keinen Spaß macht, weil ich jeden Tag eintönig das selbe mache, kriege ich Panik...

Und nein, keine Kritik an deinem Job.

Ich hab in meiner Zeit in einem wirklich armen Land sehr viele glückliche Menschen getroffen. In Deutschland ist kaum jemand so glücklich. Das ist schon auffällig. ;)
Wobei man "ohne" vielleicht durch "mit wenig" ersetzen müsste, um die Aussage wirklich treffend zu formulieren.

Also ich hab einen sehr interessanten und vielfältigen Beruf. Einkommen und Sozialprestige sind angenehme Nebenerscheinungen. Warum ein Notar auf sein Einkommen reduziert und daraus folgernd die Tätigkeit abgelehnt wird, übersteigt meine intellektuellen Fähigkeiten.

Für mich persönlich wär das einfach kein Job, ganz unabhängig vom Einkommen. Nichts anderes habe ich ja auch geäußert. Wenn dir der Beruf Spaß macht, ist das ja schön - er ist aber eben nicht für jeden was. Ich kenn auch Menschen, die für kein Geld der Welt in der Rettung mitfahren würden oder so - auch dafür habe ich volles Verständnis.

Wenn man aber für das Geld etwas tun muss, was man nicht will, würde das bei mir die Glücklichkeit schon empfindlich mindern. und ich kann auch ohne viel Geld tun was ich will. Vielleicht hat mich da ja auch meine Arbeiterfamilienherkunft geprägt, aber ich bin mit wenig zufrieden.

Ohne Geld: Wenig.
Mit wenig Geld kann man aber beispielsweise schon Sport treiben, ein Buch lesen, ein Picknick oder einen schönen Ausflug mit seinen Liebsten machen und und und.
Außerdem kann ich ja sogar in meinem Job Spaß haben.

Die Aussage, dass Geld glücklich macht, stimmt so allgemein formuliert nach meiner Erfahrung nicht. Es gibt eine Untergrenze, die man überschreiten muss, sonst ist man wegen des Geldmangels ständig im Unglück. Dann gbt es aber auch eine Obergrenze, die, wenn man sie überschreitet, unglücklich macht. Diese Obergrenze ist schon bei einigen Millionen. Ich kenne viele reiche Leute, aber ich kenne nur sehr wenige, die damit glücklich sind. Weil sie ständig noch mehr wollen und der andere mehr hat und sie Angst haben, etwas zu verlieren. Die Figur des Dagobert Duck hat schon was. Von den vielen Wohlstandsverwahrlosten Kindern gar nicht zu sprechen.

Im Übrigen mag zwar ein Notar gut verdienen, aber das können andere auch. Insbesondere Handwerker mit eigenen Firmen verdienen schnell mehr. Geld ist nicht das Mass der Dinge.

In der Funktion eines Familienversorgers zu sein und nur seine eigenen beruflichen Interessen statt das Familienwohl im Auge zu haben, halte ich allerdings für egoistisch und grenzwertig. Wenn die Familie dabei wenigstens Geld bekommt - okay, aber wenn die Familie dann noch auf Schmalhans gesetzt wird, ist eine Scheidung mit anschliessender Einzimmerwohnung für den Mann bis das letzte Kind fertig studiert hat, im Bereich hoher Wahrscheinlichkeit.

Ein Notar verdient in D bis zu 5000 Euro pro Monat, wären also Mann und Frau Notar wären das 10.000 Euro pro Monat. Was soll man mit der Summe anfangen? Die Hälfte reicht auch für ein angenenmes Leben, sogar dicke.
