Die Puritanerin Mary Rowlandson, englische Siedlerin in
Neuengland, veröffentlicht ihr "Capitivity narrative"
über ihre vom 10.Februar bis zum 2. Mai 1675
dauernde Gefangenschaft bei den Narraganset-Indianern.
Das Buch entwickelt sich zu einem der ersten Bestseller
der amerikanischen Literatur. Die amerikanische Ausgabe erlebt
noch im selben Jahr eine zweite Auflage.
